Chuck Girard has had his hands in very nearly every gun I have ever owned.

Chuck has built a few custom guns for me and has tightened up, upgraded parts or worked on most of my 1911’s from several Colts to Wilson Combat, LesBaer, STI, Dan Wesson and  Nighthawk.  Chuck has cared for or repaired and rebuilt several Colt SAA, old and new, rebuilt Winchesters, new S&W revolvers and examples from the 1800’s, and a large collection of WW2 era guns - Luger, Walther, HK P7’s and other antiques.

Chuck never "just took my money" but offered what was in my best interest and actually talked me out of some of my requests as "not a good idea".  LOL

I can't say enough good things about his professional gunsmithing talents and am proud to offer a reference for him professionally and personally as well.

A gunsmith like Chuck who knows it "all" yet is an expert in "all" those things - and most of all, very open and honest - is rare. Chuck has helped me countless times, e.g. sight installation and fitting; trigger job, barrel fitting, and debugging strange malfunctions for 2011; removing overly thread-locked factory muzzle devices (some vendors surely don't like you to change theirs :-)) and making sure I don't get baffle strikes on my cans (this would've happened once if he hadn't caught it), and many more.

He explains the problem clearly and, when feasible, will show me how he resolves the issue. He doesn't hesitate tell me to find a different approach if it isn't something he could help me with. Last but not least, Chuck is a great person and fun to talk to!

I have been going to Chuck Girad for the last couple of years. He has done an outstanding job on all my pistols and rifles. The work is second to none.

He explains what he is going to do to fix your firearm and the cost. I have never had an issue with any of the  work he has done.

He is my gunsmith for life.

Chuck & Derek have been working on my, and my brother’s guns for years. At over 50 pieces so far, their work includes repairs, tuning, upgrades, custom builds, and restorations. They have worked on our revolvers & pistols, as well tactical style, target, and big game rifles; plus our most important pieces - the guns of our father and both grandfathers.

We are very particular customers, and in every case Chuck & Derek’s experienced craftsmanship has exceeded our expectations. When you bring a piece into the shop, you are welcomed into a relaxed and cordial atmosphere, where they begin a continuous conversation with you on what you want & expect to be done. This conversation continues through completion of your work or project. Chuck & Derek will always be the only guys we use for all of our gun repairs/upgrades/projects, and I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone that they give them a try. You’ll be impressed with your results and the experience.

I have known Chuck and Derek for over ten years.  During this time Chuck has worked on 40+ gunsmith projects for me (Sig, HK, Glock, and Springfield).

He has always done a fantastic job on all his work and has incredible attention to detail.  Chuck’s consistent high quality standards have made him my go to gunsmith.

The guys at Tex-Star Gunworks, Chuck and Derek, have taken care of all of my gun repairs for the past 6 years. As a competition shooter, it's critical that my guns are reliable all of the time. Chuck has made sure that any issues or mechanical failures that I've had are resolved and that my guns work flawlessly. Tex-Star has also answered all of my questions and even fixed the guns that I'd worked on and had to bring in a box of parts.

I had Derek and Chuck build an AR 10 from scratch and they involved me in the entire process asking questions and making certain that they were building exactly what I wanted. They built a tack driver for me that I still love 4 years later.

This company is legit and the best!

Whether it’s an expensive, competition gun, a collectible, or a defensive firearm you may be forced to defend your life with, you need a professional gunsmith. Chuck Girard is who I trust with my firearms.

He’s a complete ass, but he’s honest, dependable and has a passion for what he does. He’s also a great family man and father, and that sort of thing, along with a high degree of integrity, make him the kind of guy I want to support and do business with. If you are in the DFW area and have a gun smithing need, you owe it to yourself to check him out.

Chuck at Tex-Star Gunworks is my go to for professional gunsmith projects. He reworked the factory triggers in my Sig X-Compact, Sig X-Carry, Sig X-Five and Sig X-Five Legion.  Now all shoot and feel great. He’s also demonstrated his gunsmithing skills in tuning the actions on my S&W Model 18, Model 64, Model 66, Model 67, Model 640, Model 686-4 inch, and Model 686-7 inch. All of my revolvers now have exceptional trigger pulls. Much lighter but still safe.

It is a pleasure to do business with Chuck. He takes pride in his work, is a man of integrity and has always done outstanding work for me. I highly recommend him.
